For 30 years M&DMC has been the home of motorsport in Mayo and surrounding counties.

Each year the club organises the Mayo Stages Rally, traditionally the opening rounds of the National Rally Championship and Border Rally Championship. Additionally the club runs four very popular Autocross events in Harrington's Quarry near Swinford, and regularly run other events such as single stage rallies and hill-climbs

In 2007 Mayo & District Motorsport Club is once again hosting the opening rounds of the Dunlop National Rally Championship, and the Border Rally Championship.

The 2007 TF Royal & Hotel & Theatre Mayo Stages Rally takes place this year on March 11 th. The rally is once again headquartered in the TF Royal Hotel & Theatre Castlebar, with stages located in the north of the county.
